Cybersecurity

Cyberattacks are a direct threat to industrial installations, production networks and office environments. In this practical training course, you gain insight into current digital threats and learn how attacks unfold in practice. The focus is on both technical vulnerabilities and human behaviour. What makes this training course unique is the combination of cybersecurity with industrial automation, with specific attention to ICS, SCADA and PLC environments. You learn not only what the risks are, but above all how to recognise and control them.

Lesson programme

During the training course, you gain insight into the world of malware and digital attacks. You learn how ransomware, trojans, spyware, worms, rootkits, keyloggers and wiper malware work, and what impact they have on systems and organisations. Well known industrial cyberattacks such as Stuxnet and Shamoon are analysed, including their purpose, method and consequences. In addition, extensive attention is given to the security of Industrial Control Systems. You learn how PLC, SCADA and DCS systems work, where their vulnerabilities are and what role industrial protocols play. The human aspect is also covered through social engineering: phishing, USB baiting, shoulder surfing, piggybacking and eavesdropping are discussed using recognisable practical situations.

The programme

The training course starts with an overview of current threats in cyberspace and the development of cyberattacks. This is followed by a deeper look at malware and the various forms of attack. Industrial cyberattacks such as Stuxnet and Shamoon are then discussed as practical cases. In addition, the training explores ICS security with attention to PLC, SCADA and DCS systems, industrial protocols such as Modbus, Profibus and OPC UA, and infrastructure measures such as network segmentation, MAC address filtering, VPN connections and managed switches. The programme concludes with the topic of social engineering and an interactive session in which you translate the threats into your own working environment and concrete defence measures.

Signal Processing & Fourier Analysis: From raw measurement data to reliable technical decisions

Technical Modules 11 half-day session Rotterdam

In modern technical systems, measurement data is everywhere. Sensors continuously measure vibration, pressure, temperature, flow and electrical signals. In practice, this data is rarely clean. Noise, disturbances and unstable behaviour make it difficult to determine what a system is actually doing. Signal processing is the discipline that enables engineers to solve this problem.

The benefits
