Mechanical systems are at the heart of industrial installations. Piping, pumps, heat exchangers and cooling systems ensure that processes continue to operate safely, reliably and efficiently. With Dosign Academy’s Mechanical Systems & Skid Construction training course, you develop insight into how these components work together to form a complete installation. You will learn not only to understand individual components, but above all to recognise the interaction within complete mechanical systems and skids.

Course programme
The Mechanical Systems and Skid Construction training course focuses on the structure, operation and interaction of mechanical components within industrial installations. You will build a mechanical engineering foundation that helps you better understand how installations are technically constructed, how components influence one another and where risks or failures may occur.
Skid construction is an important part of this training. You will learn how pumps, heat exchangers, piping systems, valves, cooling systems and supporting components are integrated into a functioning system. Not only on drawings, but especially from a practical perspective: what happens inside the system, which choices are critical and what technical aspects require attention?
With this insight, you will be able to recognise problems more quickly, communicate more effectively with engineers and suppliers, and make better substantiated decisions. In the process industry, this knowledge helps when selecting and assessing pumps, heat exchangers and piping systems. In the maritime sector, it contributes to reliable cooling systems for engines and generators. In energy and machine building, insight into piping design, cavitation and material selection helps make systems more efficient, more stable and less prone to failure.
This training course is intended for technical professionals who do not only want to use installations or assess them at a high level, but want to better understand how mechanical systems actually function.
During the Mechanical Systems & Skid Construction training course, you develop insight into the core principles of mechanical engineering and system integration.
With this knowledge, you will be able to understand installations more effectively, analyse failures and make technically substantiated decisions in design, maintenance and optimisation.
The Mechanical Systems training course is intended for technically trained professionals who work with or are responsible for mechanical installations. This includes aspiring and practising engineers, work planners, technicians, project staff and maintenance coordinators within the process industry, maritime sector or energy sector. Professionals who regularly work with suppliers, designers or engineers will also gain valuable technical depth from this training course.
The training course consists of 8 evening sessions. The training can be delivered at Dosign Academy in Rotterdam, or at another location in consultation.
A hot evening meal, course materials and a certificate of participation are included.
Investment: €2,021.25 excluding VAT
Duration: 8 evenings
Docent Pipestress & Piping Design & Engineering
Mechanical installations are complex and require insight into several disciplines at the same time. At Dosign Academy, we combine fundamental theoretical knowledge with practical applications, so you learn how mechanical systems behave in realistic industrial environments.
Personal advice and guidance
The training course is suitable for professionals with different backgrounds and roles. This allows you to develop knowledge that matches your work and responsibilities.
Experienced trainers from industry
Our trainers have extensive experience in mechanical engineering, piping systems and skid construction. They translate theory into practical examples from the process industry, maritime sector and energy sector.
Practice-based Mechanical Systems training
The emphasis is on insight and applicability. You will learn to recognise and apply mechanical principles in the design, maintenance and optimisation of installations.
With a solid understanding of mechanical systems, you can identify problems more quickly, communicate more effectively with engineers and suppliers, and make well-founded technical decisions. In the process industry, this helps when selecting pumps and heat exchangers for stable and energy-efficient operation. In maritime and energy environments, this knowledge contributes to reliable cooling systems and robust installations.
The Mechanical Systems training course helps you not only to use installations, but to truly understand them.
Quality and collaboration with SPPD
The quality of this training course is supported by the collaboration with the Foundation Platform Piping Design, SPPD. This working group represents leading engineering companies in the Netherlands and contributes to the alignment of the course content with professional practice.
